Pensacola Area Billfish Fishing Tournaments

Yesterday started the 39th Annual Pensacola International Billfish Tournament.  The weigh-in is on Saturday July 4th 3pm to 7pm at Palafox Pier Marina.  Probably be some big fish weighed at the tournament so come down and check it out, we will be there to get some photos.

We got out for a quick evening surf session expecting green flag conditions and were pleasently surprised to be greeted by some knee high surf and thigh high sets rolling in from the Gulf of Mexico.  Here are some pictures of Sam, Brittany, and myself. Not great photos.

Check out the variety of fish.. we have ben routinely catching six or seven different species on each trip….

After a very windy spring, June has been absolutely gorgeous and the fishing has been fantastic..

Scallop Season Opens July 1, 2009

Bay scallop season opens July 1The recreational harvest season for bay scallops begins July 1 and continues through Sept. 10. Open scalloping areas on Florida’s Gulf coast extend from the west bank of the Mexico Beach Canal in Bay County to the Pasco-Hernando county line near Aripeka.

You can take bay scallops only within the allowable harvest areas. It is illegal to possess bay scallops while you’re in or on state waters outside the open harvest areas, or to land bay scallops outside the open areas.
