Surf Report 8/31/08 Gustav
Upham 4:50pm: Clean, fun little swell today. I would say it was about thigh high with some waist high sets. Sam did a great job catching some waves on the 7-foot (Cheater) board. Some fun little barrels out there if you got down low enough on the board. Surf built some while we were there, much bigger than the 12:30pm picture below. Probably be around head high tomorrow if the wind clocks around.
Surf Report 8/30/08
Upham Beach 8:45am: Surf is flat but it is the calm before the storm as far as surf goes. There is an outside chance it could start to fill in late today according to wave models but I am thinking tomorrow is the better bet. Hurricane Gustave is a Category 3 (120mph winds) according to the 8:00am update, this is definently a surf maker, the further it shifts west of its current track the smaller it will be but I think head high conditions will be here on Monday with maybe some waist high stuff by late Sunday.
Surf Report 8/29/08
Upham Beach 9:45am: Surf is flat, expecting that push from now Tropical Storm Gustav to be here possibly late Sunday or Monday. The size and quality will all depend on how quickly it strengthens and how close it passes to us. If Dolly told us anything at all, then we are setting up for some good surf in the waist-shoulder range. I bet it will get bigger than that though as this should be stronger and closer. We will report as more news becomes available.
Surf Report 8/28/08
Upham Beach 7:20am: Surf is small looking for a push from Gustav in the next couple of days it all depends how close it passes by and what wind direction we get. We will keep ya updated.
Snook Season is Coming!
Monday (September 1st) is opening day for Snook season!!! I am always excited for the opening of season not just for the chance to get out and keep one but it always seems like a good excuse to just flat out go fishing! As if I needed another reason to go out and fish! Anyway get out there and go fishing, remember the regulations on the west coast are one fish per person between the slot 28 and 33 inches.
