Ira Video from P’Cola Beach
Here is some video from the Pensacola Beach Pier of Hurricane/Tropical Storm Ira 11/9/2009. Will post some photos soon. Pretty hard to show the scale on the size of the waves with nothing in the view for scale.
Surf Report 11/9/09
Pensacola Beach: Surf is double overhead and super choppy. East winds are on it and will continue until the storm moves east. North winds will provide a chance at some epic Gulf of Mexico surf on Tuesday afternoon. Buoys are now at 10+feet.
Hurricane Ira Surf
Looks like a lot of wind and rain in the surf report for tomorrow and into Tuesday as Pensacola Beach readies for Hurricane Ira. The surf is pretty big out there right now. Overhead conditions with some strong east winds causing rip currents and a strong longshore current. As the storm appoaches I expect the wind to stay east and then eventually going north Tuesday around noon. I am anticipating a hit to the east of us, the trick is going to be getting out on the beach at that time for the good offshore conditions. I am going to try to get out there Tuesday for some photos if possible, I work on the beach so should be able to come up with some excuse.
