Pensacola Area Report
By this time last year the cobia were here and already being caught. The water temperature has been unseasonably cold though due to the cold winter. A few pompano are being caught, a few more degrees in water temp should push schools our way.
Offshore reports are almost non-existant with the closures of snapper and grouper. I did get a few reports of amberjack on offshore structure. They were taken on jigs.
Cobia Info
Just as a quick post I wanted to mention that the first cobia caught off Pensacola Beach last year was caught March 10, 2009 by boat and the first pier fish was March 11, 2009.
Fishing Report 3/1/10
Spotted Seatrout season opens today! Warm weather is just barely out of reach but it will be soon since March is now upon us. Time to head to the beach and start looking for Pompano and Cobia! The Pensacola Bay Pier is holding lots of white trout, redfish, and even an ocassional sheepshead.
Fishing Report 2/24/10
Fishing is a little bit slow inshore right now buti am getting some good reports of redfish and sheepshead near Pensacola Pass for those brave enough to venture out in the cold weather. The new fishing bridge is producing white trout and specks. Offshore reports have halted with the closing of grouper and snapper seasons. AJ’s have been on the Oriskany.
Fishing Report 12/16/09
Inshore: Bull reds at the pass, lots of specks. Offshore: Good billfishing when its calm, grouper, and aj’s on the bridge rubble and Oriskany.
