Well it was news to me when I heard today/yesterday.  Shell Island has been made off limits to dogs and alcohol.  The St. Petersburg Times posted an article (Below) in December that the Pinellas County Department of Environmental Management has decided to pass these rules to protect nesting shore birds.

The new restrictions also will limit parties and camping, these activities will now require a permit from the county.  There are now signs (just recently) posted on the island stating this.   Too late to fight it, rumor has it the parties are moving to some of the sandbars near John’s Pass.  We will keep ya posted!
