The name of the game has shifted slightly. Mangrove snapper are everywhere right now. On every trip I have caught them and seen everyone else doing the same. Lots of reports also from Gandy Bridge, Sunshine Skyway, and the passes. Speckled Trout also have crashed onto the scene. Topwater and big baits are producing the big fish up to and over 20″. Snook are still at the passes.
Offshore: Check your swiss cheese spots for an easy limit of fire trucks (red grouper) (80′)or venture a little further for tasty gag grouper and American red snapper (130+).
