Surf Report 8/31/08 Gustav

Upham 4:50pm: Clean, fun little swell today.  I would say it was about thigh high with some waist high sets.  Sam did a great job catching some waves on the 7-foot (Cheater) board.  Some fun little barrels out there if you got down low enough on the board.  Surf built some while we were there, much bigger than the 12:30pm picture below.  Probably be around head high tomorrow if the wind clocks around.

Upham Beach 1:15pm: Surf is up, south is better, but just checked Upham and it is around knee to thigh high.  Clean surf with some big waves breaking way off of the pass.  Report from a friend (Jorge) in Bradenton was that the waves are overhead.  Here’s a pic from around 12:30pm:

Upham Beach 9:45am:  The surf should be here today at some point.  I think some knee to thigh stuff could be here around 1pm and then it should only get bigger from there through tomorrow with solid left overs.  We will update throughout the day as things change.  Hurricane Gustav is a category 3 @120 mph according to the 8am update.
