Fishing Report 2/24/10
Fishing is a little bit slow inshore right now buti am getting some good reports of redfish and sheepshead near Pensacola Pass for those brave enough to venture out in the cold weather. The new fishing bridge is producing white trout and specks. Offshore reports have halted with the closing of grouper and snapper seasons. AJ’s have been on the Oriskany.
Fishing Report 7/31/09
Inshore: Redfish are dominating the inshore reports that I am receiving along with some specks going around 4 pounds. The bluefish have been pretty fired up around structure. Try jigging.
Offshore: Its still snapper land out there. The kings have been pretty fired up too. A whale shark was spotted off of Pensacola Pass late last week that brought a bunch of cobia with it, so keep an eye out for those if you head out there.
Fort Pickens Has it All
For those of you living in the area you are all well aware of Fort Pickens. The history and lack of development has attracted people from all over the world. It also provides world class fishing opportunities. The redfish gather at Pensacola Pass and spend their time here spawning. This provides some of the best and largest redfish that the state of Florida has to offer. The clear water and good tidal movement also attract many offshore fish that you wouldn’t expect to catch within casting distance of shore. Red snapper, gag grouper, and kingfish are just a few species that you can catch with a little practice from the white sandy beaches of Fort Pickens. At night-time, the shark fishing is also some of the best Florida has to offer. So don’t forget to look under your nose next time you want to book a world class fishing trip. Fishing Report 6/8/09
Inshore: Good bites from the big three: trout, redfish, and flounder right now. Almost every fish I am seeing is a slot sized fish right now or legal size flounder. Some reports of grouper and mangrove snapper near Pensacola Pass and a few snapper in Santa Rosa Sound.
Offshore: Everything is biting depending on how far you go. Red Snapper limits are easy, some gags and gray triggerfish are mixed in as well.
