Fort Pickens Has it All

For those of you living in the area you are all well aware of Fort Pickens.  The history and lack of development has attracted people from all over the world.  It also provides world class fishing opportunities.  The redfish gather at Pensacola Pass and spend their time here spawning.  This provides some of the best and largest redfish that the state of Florida has to offer.  The clear water and good tidal movement also attract many offshore fish that you wouldn’t expect to catch within casting distance of shore.  Red snapper, gag grouper, and kingfish are just a few species that you can catch with a little practice from the white sandy beaches of Fort Pickens.  At night-time, the shark fishing is also some of the best Florida has to offer.  So don’t forget to look under your nose next time you want to book a world class fishing trip.  Any questions or comments feel free to contact us.  wes [Email address: wes #AT# breakinlines.com - replace #AT# with @ ]

Fishing Report 7/10/09

July 9, 2009 · Filed Under Reports · Comment

The wind has let up just a little bit and allowed for some smoother bay and inshore conditions.  Good reports of speckeled trout all over Pensacola Bay and Santa Rosa Sound.  The flounder bite has also stayed pretty decent throughout the summer.  Most are in the 2 to 3 pound range.  Offshore look for more of the same: red snapper and kingfish aplenty!

Lots of kingfish out there right now and I am hearing good reports of all kinds of snapper from mangrove snapper to red snapper and even some lane and vermillion snapper mixed in.  It is definentely time to fish offshore if you get a chance to get out.  Billfish tournament weigh-in today 3-7pm at Palafox Pier.
