Fishing Report 10/26/08

Inshore: Lots of good trout fishing right now on the flats and dock lights at night.  I think this is setting up to be a great winter for trout fishing since they are so plentiful now and with the absence of red tide this past summer.  Look for some gators to be feeding this winter!  As far as the snooking goes, some spotty reports the last few days but I expect them to be on fire this week up until the next cold front.

Snook on the Move Again

October 22, 2008 · Filed Under Articles · Comment

Snook are starting to begin their cold water migrations in off of the beaches and into the bays eventually finding their way up into the canals and rivers in search of a warm place to wait out the cold.  While there are still quite a few fish on the beach I would start looking toward targeting them on the lights at night near a pass or open bay.  The bite was really good last winter and I think it will be better this year!!!

Lots of inshore reports with tons of fish being caught locally.  Great reports of snook moving in on the dock lights, don’t look way back in the canals yet as they are there but not in the types of numbers that they are closer to the passes.  Trout are everywhere, and big!  They will hit almost anything you have in your tackle box.  Also so good flounder reports coming in from up and down Pinellas County, haven’t heard too much about them in Tampa Bay yet but they are migrating that way.  Kingfish and Spanish mackerel are going off on the beaches.  The best of the kingfishing may still be a little north of us but I would bet this next cold front will bring them this way in great numbers!  Please feel free to send in your reports, questions, or stories and I will post them right here on Breakinlines!

Inshore: Lots of wind but people still getting out and scoring lots of spanish mackerel and slot sized snook and redfish.  Offshore:  Lots of variety from kings to sharks and cobia.  If the wind calms the fishing is going to go off!!

Lots of reports still coming in despite the howling 20-30 mph winds out of the east.  Lots of mackerel and jacks on the beaches.  It is hard to throw any kind of small jig or spoon and not get a bite.  There are plenty of ladyfish mixed in as well.  I saw one report of a big tarpon caught at the Skyway Bridge and plenty of snook and redfish reports, even some over-slot fish.  Nobody really venturing offshore yet.
