Billfish Tournament Photos
We didn’t stay until the end of the 2009 Pensacola International Billfish Tournament weigh-in but we did get to see some really nice fish at the scale. The first swordfish picture was in first place when we left at 205lbs. It was caught on the Endless Summer, a boat that has had some fish pictures posted on this site before, a couple of weeks ago. The other pictures are of 39lb Mahi Mahi which was at the top of the leaderboard when we left. At the end there are some pictures of a 245lb swordfish that was caught by the 12-year old angler on the left aboard the “Jasper Time.” The fish did not meet IFGA Regulations as another angler had to untangle the line from the rudder of the sportfisherman. And a nice shot of a big yellowfin tuna. Here are the pictures:
Offshore Report South of Pensacola
Received these pictures of the weekend take from Judson Day on their trip south of Pensacola that included a swordfish, a bunch of tripletail, wahoo, mahi mahi, and blackfin tuna. Enjoy the pictures:
Wanna go Swordfishing?!
I got a call last summer (2007) from Tim Falzone to go aboard his Cape Hatteras “Dataman” for a two day trip out of Pensacola for some bottom fishing and the eventual goal of fishing for tuna off the Alabama rigs and then some overnight swordfish fishing.
We departed early on a Saturday morning out of his dock at Gulf Breeze and headed toward Pensacola Pass. We then per usually, broke out the cash and poker chips for our run offshore to our first fishing spot about 20-miles from shore. Seas were perfect and the 60+-foot boat (My first time on the new boat) cut through the 2-foot chop like a hot knife through butter.
