Here is a video of what was originally a double hook-up on tarpon in St. Pete about 30 minutes after I caught a 100+ pound fish.  Both fish here were about 70-pounds.  Some adult language:

Looks like a flat weekend offshore but it may be a little windy.  The marine forecast is calling for 1-2 foot seas offshore yet 10-20 knot winds.  Hopefully it will not be too bad out there.  Sunday looks like the better of the two days but Saturday may not be too bad either.  Kingfish are here for sure and could be an added bonus while out red snapper fishing.  Put out a flat line off the back of the boat with a dead or live sardine.  Tarpon should be here this week, keep an eye out for them cruising the beaches along the second sandbar.

Lots of reports still coming in despite the howling 20-30 mph winds out of the east.  Lots of mackerel and jacks on the beaches.  It is hard to throw any kind of small jig or spoon and not get a bite.  There are plenty of ladyfish mixed in as well.  I saw one report of a big tarpon caught at the Skyway Bridge and plenty of snook and redfish reports, even some over-slot fish.  Nobody really venturing offshore yet.

Inshore:  It has been the most productive mangrove snapper year I have ever seen.  Either that or they are just following me around.  I am being rewarded with keeper snapper at just about every spot I have fished in the last 4 months.  Other than that, snook have been feeding near the passes and tarpon are still hanging around.  As we move into October I expect that the Speckled Trout bite will pick up and should be a strong winter if we can survive the next couple months without red tide setting in.  Jeff Haas reported seeing some down in Boca Grande.  Lets hope it was just a algal bloom from Tropical Storm Fay runoff.

As mentioned in the article yesterday, fished at Upham Beach for about 2 hours.  Tide was out and slowly coming in.  Caught lots os small (7-9″) mangrove snappers and a ladyfish.  After weeding through those caught a 3# snook.  Reports from other are big snook around the passes, lots and lots of sharks and a steady amount of tarpon up around Dunedin.  Offshore: Reds and gags are the primary chewers right now.
