Billfish Tournament Photos
We didn’t stay until the end of the 2009 Pensacola International Billfish Tournament weigh-in but we did get to see some really nice fish at the scale. The first swordfish picture was in first place when we left at 205lbs. It was caught on the Endless Summer, a boat that has had some fish pictures posted on this site before, a couple of weeks ago. The other pictures are of 39lb Mahi Mahi which was at the top of the leaderboard when we left. At the end there are some pictures of a 245lb swordfish that was caught by the 12-year old angler on the left aboard the “Jasper Time.” The fish did not meet IFGA Regulations as another angler had to untangle the line from the rudder of the sportfisherman. And a nice shot of a big yellowfin tuna. Here are the pictures:
Tuna caught on the “Endless Summer”
Pics provided by Judson day of a 140 pound and 158 pound Yellowfin Tuna caught 130 miles SW of Pensacola Pass in the MBGFC Memorial Day Tournament. Caught on the Endless Summer. Nice fish guys…
Species Spotlight II - Crevalle Jack
Crevalle Jacks are one of my all time favorite fish to catch. Sometimes reffered to as yellow jacks, they are all bite and just a little (grunting) bark. These fish are one a mission. Eat everything in their path and then go find something else to eat. Large schools of smaller jacks can be seen splashing and churning the waters down sea walls and around docks and bridges. They are great fun to catch and are found on all Florida coasts and even on the offshore reefs.
Tripletail Dinner…
Well, I keep a list of the top 15 fish that I have never caught before, but most want to posted on the wall at work. Number 2 on that list….. Tripletail. Congrats and thanks to Brian Cooper for sending this picture of a monster 19.8 pounder! Send in your pictures and get your picture up on the site too! wes [Email address: wes #AT# breakinlines.com - replace #AT# with @ ]
Fishing Report 7/3/08
Wanting to head out for some more shark action this evening if the weather holds. Got skunked last night on the beach snook for about an hour. Storms ran us off just as I was starting to see them. Saw 3 and a sheepshead in the surf. Here is a picture of Judson Day with a nice Gulf Yellowfin Tuna. I am guessing it was a triple digit fish. 100 lbs.
